I am a business coach, mentor and consultant passionate about helping business owners of small and medium companies to take systemic control of their most important business functions to create the maximum possible output with the minimum necessary efforts, the utmost effectivity.

Although I have many years of experience as managing director in all functions of engineering, research and production companies, I specialize in strategy, structure, organization, research and development, marketing and sales to ideally shape the companies and create the best possible revenue, earnings and growth.
In 1985, I started at a steel producer, voestalpine AG in Austria and took over leading positions of service, sales and marketing departments from 1990 on.
1998 we formed a group subsidiary, vatron gmbh for research and development in the area of mechatronics, measurement and control systems, automation, sensoric, simulation, etc. These systems were produced in own workshops and sold via carefully selected sales channels worldwide. vatron had up to 210 employees and I was managing director and chairman of the board for daughter companies from 1998 to 2011.
Strategy, process organization, research and development, marketing, procurement, production, finance, etc. was daily business as well as control of acquired subsidiaries.
The value of the company was increased tenfold with a double-digit yearly EBIT-margin.
2011 to 2014 I turned voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik GmbH as managing director from losses to profitability for all three years with a nice EBIT. The company designed and produced steel structures for high-bay warehouses.
My passion was unleashed in 2015 when I started Herwig Haunschmid Unternehmensberatung (Consulting) a strategy and marketing coaching, mentoring and advisory business targeted at helping medium and small companies to run their business profitable.
Since 2015 I also take care about industrial mergers & acquisitions projects.
Further I support start-up companies as business angel and I am invested in selected companies.

Besides loving what I do for a living, I also have several other passions. Balancing it all is what makes life fun and rewarding.
To stay fit, I practice sailing and archery on a challenging and competitive level. In archery I won two World Championships and several European Championships. In sailing I got just a silver medal of a European Championship. These results were only possible in a combination of technical skills and mental techniques, which I use also in demanding business fields.
